Editing Out<\/strong><\/h4>

\u201c editing keeps you sane\u201d<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

By day I forget<\/p>

my past transgressions–<\/p>

the jokes that hurt<\/p>

the school yard collision<\/p>

the lack of sufficient help<\/p>

to those in need at home<\/p>

or around the world<\/p>

failures to confront injustice<\/p>

because of expediency<\/p>

and a quieter life.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Daylight is a great editor<\/p>

disinfecting and expunging<\/p>

but not long after midnight<\/p>

nagging ghosts creep back<\/p>

accusing and confronting<\/p>

eliminating much desired rest<\/p>

demanding renewed commitment<\/p>

to just struggles and forlorn hopes<\/p>

taking chances to give real love<\/p>

to the desperate of\u00a0 humanity.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

OBSERVATIONS<\/strong><\/h4>

From the back veranda<\/p>

I observe the cloud formations —\u00a0<\/p>

Cirrus, Strato, Alto, Nimbus<\/p>

and Cumulus congestus<\/p>

their names roll across the sky<\/p>

and just as quickly fade\u00a0<\/p>

from my fickle memory<\/p>

leaving only the cobalt blue<\/p>

of willow pattern porcelain.<\/p>
